The Wild Goose Lake 2019 directed by Diao Yinan and cinematography by Jingsong Dong may have gone under the radar to most audience but the visual and cinematic technique presented in this gripping story of a cat-and-mouse chase game have left tasteful sweet after taste of stunning cinematic visuals that is based on reality.
I went in the movie with zero idea of what I was getting into but I was pleasantly surprised after credit roll. What struck me most was how they use and react to their surrounding and setting to enhance their cinematic universe. Since most of the technique used in the movie is based on reality, "coincidence" appears real, and that I think is what make this movie amongst the best I've seen in 2020.
I've screen grab some stills in the movie that I think has made good use of the surrounding and is worth exploring and talking about.
